I had a really good time with this assignment. I’m more of a writer than I am a digital artist, so being able to engage in this writing exercise was refreshing. I will say, I haven’t written much poetry in recent years, so I was out of my comfort zone just a little bit, but I feel good about what I created.

In terms of my process, I scanned through a decent amount of TinyPoemBot’s recent tweets and saved some that I felt inspired by. Once I had a few in my bookmarks, I read through them again and landed on “simple. living. guiltless.” It relates to how I live my life, and since my favorite form of writing is the personal narrative, it just made sense to me to approach my short poem from this angle. It did take me a while to figure out exactly how I wanted to word and format it on Twitter, but once I figured it out, I felt like I had a pretty solid poem.

I’ve always found some of these Twitter bots to be really cool and interesting, so I’m excited to have found this one, especially because I think it will help me a lot when I have writer’s block. Sometimes, just having a few words to get me started is all I need, which I think is probably the purpose of this particular bot. I’m looking forward to using this resource in the future as a way to practice my writing skills.
